About

Hello! I am a Canadian visual artist ( www.christinemontague.com ) who paints realistic, representational oil paintings out of my great studio at the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre in Halton Hills, Ontario. At a cold wax workshop I created a 6″ x 6″ portrait of a girl to see if this process could be applied to portraiture. This small monochromatic portrait received a lot of positive attention during the workshop, on my blog Camera and Canvas, and in my studio. Not long after this, a visitor to my studio commissioned me to paint a 6″ x 6″ pet portrait.  As I love to paint large, and often create larger than life portraits, I was surprised at what a little gem this little oil painting turned out to be.  Hmmm. I appeared to be onto something.

So here’s the plan.  I will paint 100 6″ x 6″ portraits of people of all ages, some pets, too. I have a great wall in my studio I will display them on.  Paintings done on commission ($200 each & hst) will be included in the collection as a 6″ x 6″ photo.

I hope you enjoy following my project as much as I know I’ll enjoy working on it .  Any comments?  Questions? Commission inquiries? Just let me know and I’ll get back to you asap!

Happy perusing!
